The best part about the Simpsons was it was written all by educated men that wanted to be comedians but saw things wrong with the world and wanted change.

I want to write a novel about silence. The things people don’t say.

This little guys name is Danny Nickerson, he is five years old and is diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. He has been through 33 rounds of radiation since November and doctors say that he has less than a 10% chance of living beyond 18 months.
His birthday is on July 26th and he has only one wish, to receive birthday cards. It may sound weird but every kid likes to see their name on a piece of mail, it makes them feel truly special and the mystery of what could be inside is exciting. Just imagine the excitement on this little guys face when the mailman drops off duffel bags full of letters and packages addressed to him.
I normally don’t ask for favors but his story has truly touched my heart. I understand that some mail probably won’t get to his door in time but all I’m asking is for you guys to stop by the store and grab a card, write something awesome inside and sign it with your name and with your location (just city, state, or country or whatever). Put a stamp on it and drop it in the mail. I understand that everyone has different circumstances so if you can’t do this then all I ask is for you to reblog this post and get it around.
Here’s Danny’s address:

Thank you for everyone who participates and passes this along. This is going to mean the world to Danny.

Suzanne Weiss (via socialismartnature)

I am a survivor of the Jewish Holocaust, the Nazis’ mass murder of Europe’s Jews. The tragic experience of my family and community under Hitler makes me alert to the suffering of other peoples denied their human rights today — including the Palestinians…. For me, the Israeli government’s actions toward the Palestinians awaken horrific memories of my family’s experiences under Hitlerism: the inhuman walls, the checkpoints, the daily humiliations, killings, diseases, the systematic deprivation. There’s no escaping the fact that Israel has occupied the entire country of Palestine, and taken most of the land, while the Palestinians have been expelled, walled off, and deprived of human rights and human dignity.
